Polkanomics! features Marie Meredith who, stalwartly resisting all peer pressure continued to practice diligently on her accordion throughout the 1960’s -- inhaling only the praise and adoration of Laurence Welk fans everywhere. Today, she and her cohorts create a "California Free Style" polka mix that includes traditional polkas, Tex Mex, Standards, Oldies and mystifying selections from rock and pop. Elizabeth Cabraser, Lisa Mathiesen, Nancy Vogl and Sara Winge add drums, guitar, bass and vocals to offer an infectious and delightful musical experience. If you’ve ever heard the Berkeley Women’s Music Collective, Rosie and the Riveters, HiJinx, Vintage Squeeze or Greenfire, then you’ll want to see these gals perform in this new incarnation. Polkanomics! is always a hit at the Accordion Club of the Redwood picnics and dances, where they have developed their unique and engaging style... "progressive polka for the proletariat!"
