Stanford, CA
Lat/Lon: 37.4228, -122.173

What:

Klezmer band the Gonifs and jazz ensemble Left Turn No Signal lead us in an exploration of the connections between these two distinctive genres. The Gonifs (translation: 1. a thief 2. a clever, mischievous child 3. “America gonif!” meaning, “Only in America!”) are a young spirited klezmer band taking a fresh approach to traditional Yiddish songs & dances. Left Turn No Signal plays hard-driving jazz ranging from creative, unusual interpretations of standards to original compositions.

The concert will be MC'd by juggler, performer and playwright Sara Felder, described by the SF Guardian as "a master of comic timing." Sara has toured nationally with productions including the Pickle Family Circus and Joel Grey's Borscht Capades, and received critical acclaim for her plays including "June Bride" and "Shtik!" Student tickets are only $5, so bring the whole family for an afternoon of musical merriment!

This concert is part of the annual Stanford Jazz Festival.
