Two great bands will be playing on Saturday, July 21 at JCC East Bay's monthly music BREW: Glenn Hartman's Klezmer Playboys and Bay Area favorites Klez-X. There will be good people, great musicians, and tasty beer and wine.
Glenn Hartman, front man for the New Orleans Klezmer Allstars -- a group heralded by the Village Voice as, “easily the funniest and wildest of the klezmer new wave” -- brings the animated energy of his new group, the Klezmer Playboys to the JCC. The band infuses traditional klezmer melodies with a plus-sized dose of funk and rock ‘n roll, creating a potent musical concoction sure to leave you reeling!
We'll let the quotes about Klez-X speak for themselves:
"This extraordinary group has absolutely captivated my imagination, knocked my socks off - what more can I say?" -Michael Tilson Thomas
"Hoffman tweaks the secular party music of Ashkenazi Jewry and Yiddish theater with a dose of jazz improvisation." -Andrew Gilbert, San Jose Mercury News
