What:

What happens when you combine an accordion virtuoso (Alex Meixner) fluent in Austrian/Slovenian/Eastern European styles with a bassist (Bubba Hernandez) steeped in the Tejano/Conjunto traditions of south Texas and Mexico? It's a polka freak out!

This collaboration first began developing a few years ago while Bubba was a member of the two time Grammy award winning Brave Combo and was covering one of Alex's tunes. While on tour in Pennsylvania, Bubba visited River's Bend Recording and jammed with Al and Alex and a Polka Freak Out was born! Together they mix traditional European polka with Tejano and Conjunto rhythms, producing a crazy, danceable pop-rock sound.

Their self-titled CD was released in June 2007 on Moon Zero Bird Records.
