What:

Pistolera is a NYC-based band that plays an original brand of latin pop-folklorico. Drawing from traditional styles of Mexican music and fusing it with a pop-rock sensibility, the electrifying quartet features the Spanish lyric songs of vocalist and guitarist Sandra Lilia Velásquez, the driving accordion melodies of Maria Elena, and the unbeatable rhythm section of bassist Inca B. Satz and drummer Ani Cordero.

The band played it's first show in early 2005 and was immediately well received by English and Spanish speaking audiences and was invited to perform at some of New York's finest venues as well as several cultural festivals. Since the release of their debut album "Siempre Hay Salida" in Nov of '06 the band has been featured in Billboard Magazine, The New Yorker, Channel 9's "LatiNation", Latina Magazine, El Diario, and NPR's "Open Mic".
